"Memories are that way,
that way back
2 that way back
when I could never think of you and say wack....
Sometimes I wonder if you married my replacement
Equally old with ideas adjacent
You build a whole nother story to your dream house
Kept my possessions in a box in the basement
I stil consider you a song bird, singing in the open cage
Guilded with fools gold, but that's just me
There never be no animocity, I'm thankful for the memories...."
WAY 2 Quotable
iTuned into this this morning
I know this isnt brand new

it made remember what good music felt like

People 2 Know: Judah 1 - Instructions for Alchemy. Ingredients of Ether.
The man is a genius in his own right...
Judah 1 lives his art and now he presents 2 you his brand new book
Instructions for Alchemy. Ingredients of Ether.
The common theme is a profound honesty that is at once convicting and inspiring. One cannot read the text without being alternately driven to rage over the injustices in our world, saddled with guilt over our role in this reality and then inspired to be an agent of change.
If your eyebrow was raised bring the rest of you 2 the book signing

We Were Once A Fairytale... Directed by Spike Jonze
This was quite interesting
Kanye did a great job acting in my opinion
dont sleep...
it felt soooo candid
funny I am more interested in part 1
and I wonder what all the symbolism is in all this
heres a shot in the dark
2 me it seems we are seeing Kanye drunk off his own fame
til he has 2 kill the ego or mouse inside
funny the size of his ego in his own mind is mouse size...
Either way its scary and kinda intriguing 2 watch isnt it??
I expect nothing less from Spike.
Still gotta see Where The Wild Things are....

(Pre)Ms. Hill
Early L-boogie footage @ the apollo. Shows that before autotune, folks (like Lauryn)actually went out and got vocal lessons to tap thier true potential, cause as you can see, she needed it....SO STOP LOOKING FOR PROGRAMS AND TAKE A VOCAL CLASSES!
sidebar:
The other day I was asked by a female, how do you write songs and appeal to the mass audience without being the Lil Kim-type rapper. Dully Notted, Female emcee's box themselves into being the Sex-sells rapper more so then the talented rapper. Ah la your Kim's, Foxy's, Trina's, even newcomers like Jakie 0 & Nicki Minaj. And all i can do is make reference to older female artist, like Queen Latifah and Mc Lyte. But No one stands out more then the most impressionable, Miss Lauryn Hill...though she can sing as well, She (to me) out rapped everybody in her former group. Selling sex works, no doubt in that...but being a true artist, and making songs that people can feel in thier hearts rather then in the bedroom is more acceptable to the masses. L-Boogie had a message....whats yours?

The Anything Manifesto
Anything
is an expectation of the unexpected
based on the idea of desperation
the demands
the pressure
the need
this album was a diamond
made under extreme pressure
the pure desires we have as a generation
I thought about it today I wanna write a song called "Terrible 20's"
its like the terrible two's all over again
but 4 a decade
we are under the pressure 2 be cool,be remembered, get an education,be
well read,live on our own,be sexy,be perfect, be flawed,have
money,have a career,be seen,know how 2 cook,be famous,be successful,be
someone, find someone, be married its the most human time of our lives
all in one decade
the expectations are unreal
so is the album
we are under the pressure 2 do Anything
Anything being the name of the album
the album made under expectation
its a product of its time while trying 2 be ahead of it
it will sound beautiful
its proof we are all beautiful
we are Anything
given a chance
The undiscovered
The unexplained
Anything
its so uncertain that we want it so bad
Anything
an unquenchable request
We are the possible
The Anything
we aren't what they said we are
We are Anything we decide 2 be
And I have.

"Anything." is on the way.

Jailbirds....
Shyne and Mystikal.....
In my book, underrated flow wise...granted when Shyne was out he got heckled for sounding like BIG, but really, other then a deep voice, he sounds nothing like him....he had a gritty new york sound but there was raw street visuals that stood out wen he rapped, it was grimey, he's not a punchline rapper, but he's a "say whats real" street rapper.....Comparison today: Saigon
In my book, Mystikal, SUPER UNDERATED...this guy sounds like what New orleans should sound like, Ive always liked how dude can spread a 2 bar pattern into 1 then come on the 3rd bar real slow, like with a question or a leading statement into his 4th bar which would be real loud and screaming....and it wuld feel like ur listening to a crazy person...but he was spittin.... Comparison today: Ludacris
Of course, far past thier primes, (if Shyne even had 1)...you probally will never get to hear the rawness of their lyrical and unpredictable skill.
Mystikal favorite: "Bouncin Back", and verse off Snoop's "Ghetto Symphony"
Shyne Favorite: "For The Record" (50 Diss)

N.E.R.D.'s 4th Member??
I dont know how I feel about this buuut word is from Pharrell's blog is that the next N.E.R.D. record is now ‘very 3-D’, Pharrell Williams says NERD are working on a new album ‘Instant Gratification’ with new member Rhea. Rumor that NERD have a new member named Rhea has been confirmed by Pharrell Williams. “Musically, we’re just somewhere else [with her],” he told MTV News. “The music is now very 3-D. It’s something you have to hear.” “We’re definitely somewhere else,” he continued. “I want to leave that impact moment for when you purchase your download and you purchase your CD. The music is very three-dimensional. We’re just really excited. We feel like NERD has always been the punks of hip-hop and the outcasts of alternative music – just a little different. But this time, we’re taking no prisoners.”
According to publication, Rhea auditioned for NERD via Skype. Her rendition of “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” impressed the band. “It was just a really good time,” she recalled. “When I came in there and I met them and they heard me sing, I think they decided it was the right fit.” Report that NERD appointing a female member was brought to surface in August by Fam-Lay, the rapper signed to The Neptunes’ label, Star Trak Records. In the same month, the Hip-Hop group, which consist of Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley, brought Rhea on-stage during their performance at Lovebox in London. NERD are now prepping to release a new album “Instant Gratification” which is expected to be released in 2010. As for this year, they will be supporting Jay-Z for his upcoming “Blueprint 3” tour along with Wale and J. Cole.

P.J. Morton On CNN
The conflict I go through daily is on display here...
I recently had a discussion with my Father who is an elder in the Church
about my career as an artist
My brother sent this 2 me....
I have been dealing with the battle and guilt of is my career the righteous path??
Am I misusing My God given talents??
Am I selling my soul because I make Rock & Hip Hop music about reality, fun, love, life, thought and imagination???
I deal with the guilt of how much I enjoy making music
and what the creator wants..
Is music bigger than your religion?
Or am I limiting myself?
Is EVERYONE who is talented in the industry evil?
Hmmm All I know is I just wanna make music man.
